Littleton schools are Denver Public Schools, a large district with a broad range of problems, whereas Douglas County schools are newer with much more money, they are building new schools as fast as they can. The Douglas County School District is at the top in academic performance every year.
I have been doing various IT jobs for years, and I've found that the Denver Tech Center (S.E. I25 corridor) always has jobs for IT types. It's only a 15 min drive into the Park Meadows area (big mall, costco, one of everything) and there is a good size outlet mall right in Castle Rock. Because of all the new construction, the Castle Rock parks and rec. department has money to spend on parks and stuff. The rec. center (again, a short walk from my house) has added on a nifty leisure pool area. There are several events downtown Castle Rock every year that are always fun (oktoberfest, art festival, etc). I'm very impressed with the road conditions around here. Most roads are new, they are expanding I25 through Castle Rock to 3 lanes both ways, and I25 all the way into Denver is new, with light rail service. CO Springs is only 40 min. away, and there is easy access to Pike National Forest. One area in Douglas County, Highlands Ranch has over 88k population alone!
I can say that crime in general in Castle Rock is very very low. I've been pulled over for minor traffic violations several times, and rcvd a courteous warning each time. I see Castle Rock as a small town with lots of entrepreneur opportunities. There are dozens of businesses that would do well here, given the outpacing of home building vs business creation.
For kids, Castle Rock as a considerable offering of sports facilities, and a good skate park. There are paved paths all around the place, easy access everywhere. Take a look with MS live local birds eye views to get a feel for the place. Myself, I'm an active Geocacher, and I'm constantly finding good spots for caches. So, consider this your invite to Castle Rock. We love it. Hopefully, you'll love it too.
Tammy and Kimberly from The Meridian Group were our realestate. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about them. call them and they will tell you all the pro's and cons about each neighborhoods. They also have a great MLS search on thier website. My wife and I took advantage of this when we were out of the area. Good luck with your move. Youre in good hands.
